It started in Grythyttan, took me to Porvoo from Peru- my first year as a blogger

This week I passed the line of one year as a blogger! Lets celebrate! Put together a bunch of photos from my first year. How much I have been doing, I kind of got surprised myself. Read or just look at the photos, it is your choice. My first post was written about Grythyttans Gästgiveri, and well, it only contained photos. My aim, was of course from the beginning that I should only develop my skills of journalism and I started with photos. September 2013   Over time I got better at photography, even though I still found it a bit tricky after a couple of months. This photo was taken at Björkskogsnäs naturreservat in november last year, and well, was probably a lucky shot. October- November 2013   In november I also did a interview with the fashion blogger Modemanifestet.  Still remember that with a happy face. I got some very inspiring ideas for my future studies and also my blog. Heidi is a girl with a hands-on grip on environment and actually bought …

Borgå- Porvoo – with the bloggers in the Archipelago- a presentation.

As you well know by now is that I traveled to the city of Borgå/Porvoo in Finland with a bunch of other bloggers. I thought that I would do a fair presentation of them (hopefully they think so to). Check out their blogs and the hashtag #travelhouseporvoo if you haven´t already to get an idea of the wonderful gang I just spend almost a full week in Borgå with. The photos are edited in lightroom and photoshop. Kpunkka. instagrammer This is Konsta, a instagrammer that among the bloggers participating in the trip probably are the one with the most followers. How about 110 K on insta? Well, if you have to have a letter on the number of followers, you know that you are important.  The above photo was taken at the flee market in the morning Saturday Sept. 13th (yesterday), before heading for the archipelago. After the quick stop at the fleemarket in the morning where I also bought a rug, we headed for the archipelago. Before going on the boat, Konsta took this photo …

Borgå- Porvoo- Turn foto into art.

Today we went to the Artfactory in Borgå. Before we where suppose to send a photo that we wanted to turn into art. This is the photo I sended. The processes where fairly easy. We basically painted acrylic paint on a woodenboard and then a photo printed on normal a4 paper. Then you let it dry and just rub it of. Volia, you have a painting that is very cool. Mine is packed down now but will post it in another post. the artist that helped us and showed how to do it, was named Antti H. Raatikainen and is among the pictures wearing orange (last picture). You find the his page on www.anttiraatikainen.com Just got back from trying to do some northern light night shooting, didn´t go very well. Borgå- Porvoo- day one- Meeting some new friends.

My body is aching but my soul is at peace. Already made new friends. This is why I love traveling. As told before I am on a “blog-trip” to Finland and to be exact Borgå/Porvoo. Today was the first day and we went started by visiting the Arabia factory in Helsinki. Well, it was the Arabia, Fiskars and Ittala place. I finally bought four Mumin Arabia mugs. I think my soul is at peace and that I don´t have to do anything more on the entire trip, I am now satisfied But waiting for us in Porvoo was a cake which I cannot remember the name of. It is described as the “semla” of Finland and is filled with bitter-almond. Very interesting, I would though have compared it to the Swedish “sockerkaka” rather than the semla. After having an entire cake and saying hello to everyone, (still trying to remember everybodies names), we left for a guided tour of old Porvoo on bikes. I though I came prepared to what was coming for me but …

going to Porvoo- 3 days and counting

There is a lot of planning before going on a trip. It kind of struck me today that there is as much planning for me going one week to Finland as going three months to South America, if you don´t count the vaccinationshots that hade to be taken some months ahead. That must say a little about my planning, it is none existing. I normally end up without a toothbrush and to much clothes, either to warm or to cold clothes, often to warm. Well, the scar tissue from my Tuberculosis shot is now fading, it actually still hurts after 6 months (?!), and new trips are being planned. In June I was in Gotland, in August on a music festival in Gothenburg, Stockholm (last weekend) and now next week I am heading for Finland. 3 days and counting. This blogtrip the is arranged by the Travelhous in Porvoo will be easy to follow in social media by searching the hashtag, #travelhouseporvoo. Yesterday I started with a photoproject (I am now a onlinestudent at the University …

Preparing for Porvoo with a festival guide from Zalando and some soup.

Remember that I spoke of getting a mail about a festival gudie? The festival guide from Zalando is in Swedish but covers the festivals in Europe. Who knew that the biggest festival in Europe takes 3 million visitors and is situated in Vienna!? And that it´s first year only had 500 visitors? How cool. Martin and I soon started discussing our backpacking next year and how we could fit in a festival in all that. Tomorrowland is interesting.. Soon I am going to the Porvoo Jazz festival the 10th of September, which is soon, and I received an email for the checking up of the dates/trip this week from the travelhouse in Porvoo/Borgå. It is so exiting and an amazing schedule. Seems like the only thing I am doing this week is planning trips, but, well the award comes later when you actually get to go traveling. This weekend I am traveling to Stockholm for meeting friends and fellow bloggers. Tomorrow I am attending Stockholm Travel Massive. Will post photos of the weekend as they …

Going to Porvoo with Svenska resebloggar and #travelhouseporvoo in September.

Sometimes being persistent pays of. During  my trips abroad in Peru I decided to go for travel blogging as well as fashion, environment and life that I already blog about every day due to the fact that I do travel a lot compared to many people and due to that I have a great wanderlust that doesn´t seem to fade. One of my first posts about travel where my preparations for my trip to Peru where I added some old travel photos that where taken with an old film camera, if you remember those.. Here me and my cousins are in London riding what I think is a sightseeing bus. ”this autumn I´m going to Finland, finally” For those who blog you know how much time it takes and how much passion you have to put into it to run a blog, either you have readers or not and my persistence have now paid of. I was selected among 13 other bloggers to go to a Finish Jazz festival in the medieval town of Porvoo (Borgå) …

Much fuss about Finland och lite om Åland

SJ Prio and SOMMAR50

You know that I love trains right? It is my first choice of travel if I get the choice. Some times I don´t and most times I rule it out due to the time and price. Then I have some great news for everybody who are traveling in Sweden this summer until the 23rd of August at least. You can travel half price in first class if registering as a SJ prio member and typing the code SOMMAR50 when ordering your tickets online. Just remember to book them 48 hours in advance, the SJ email I got said. So happy traveling first class now, sitting on the train between Stockholm and Linköping now and first class is so much better. They even have afterwork today Friday. hihi. So funny. Here are some of my favorite train moments on instagram which includes SJ more than once. Canon 24-105 mm f.4 lens.

One of my best best buddies is my Canon 24-105 mm f/4 lens. When out traveling I use this as a standard. It is enough zoom to have a range of possibilities as landscape and portrait. It is a wide angle lens that always saves me when in crowded and places with wide angles and creates terrific scenes when shooting landscape. Shot almost all my photos from Norway this way. Shot these photos of the lens at the same time as when I shot the photos of my lens baby lens. Katarina     Photos shot with this lens, Machu Picchu in photos and Some other favorite photos from Borgå/ Porvoo.

Update- the blogs I read – Resfredag

I follow a lot of other bloggers. I have written posts about it before like ”Borgå- Porvoo – with the bloggers in the Archipelago- a presentation” and ”the blogs I read”. I said that I would add more blogs to the list of the blogs I read and here is another one that just updated her design. The blog is called Resfredag and is written by Annika Myhre who also where one of the organisers of yesterdays Travel Massive. Annika takes wonderful photos and write about travel in Swedish. She has recently written about hiking through the Narrows and have been to Machu Picchu with her mother. She says that Machu Picchu is one of her fondest memories and top one of her top five list. I definitively loved my visit at Machu Picchu. Check out her blog and read her travelstories and get inspiration. Katarina

Katarinas nyårskarameller- september till december

The last post in this years nyårskarameller- check last years out here. September kom med fart och fläkt och jag åkte till Stockholm för att hänga med en annan bloggare som heter Antonia. Hon och jag gick på en lång fotopromenad och jag fick fota gröna lund för första gången. September arrived and along come speed and excitement and I went to Stockholm to meet up with another blogger named Antonia. She and I went on a long photowalk and I had shoot Gröna Lund for the first time.

Shit pomfritt, already part two. That is probably my expression for the year. It is strange that you say that weird stuff sometimes, it comes and goes. Have heard that the kid’s expression right now is ”disgusting”. I believe my partner have used this a long time, must be that he is the right age group then. This post is about May to August of fantastic 2014. Some years feels way too boring …

The archipelago of Finland – a Scandinavian exotic paradise

Who need to go to South Africa when you have the archipelago of Porvoo/Borgå in Finland? So close to Christmas it is necessary with dreams of warmer places or times, I think. It seem to be more and more common that people flee the country and run to Asia or the Carribean during Christmas. I have no traveling plans at the moment so well, I dwell among travelphotos on Pinterest. Unhealthy you may think but I like to believe that the mind needs some rest at moments, that it needs to dream of long summer days and not so dark summer nights. This post will be just about that, the summer light and the exotic view from a Scandinavian country in the form of a travel destination you ought to go to during next summer. Before traveling to Finland I was unaware of the archipelagos of the Scandinavian countries and what treasures they hold. Of my time in Porvoo, the archipelago was the best experience and therefore so close to Christmas I travel back with this post. …

Meeting another blogger- at lillatildeshem

When in Borgå/Porvoo, one of the evenings where spend, for me and a little group, at a local bloggers house where she prepared dinner for us. She had such an amazing house that I could probably have spend hours and hours photographing it but here are at least some pics. The Menu as follows on the first photo: Starters, Fish from Pellinge; cold smoked salmon, raw spiced fish and smoked trout with caviar. Main course; Fishburgers Dessert: Blueberry pie with ice cream. The food was served on fantastic Arabia china, probably my favorite detail from the entire dinner. Love my Arabia. In the blogpost ”Middag” on the blog lillatildelshem.blogspot.se you can find the fantastic recipes from the dinner. Maybe Sofia (the blogger) should have a regular ”hemma hos” or ”dine with” event for travelers interested in the local cuisine. Who wouldn´t choose that over a local restaurant?! 😉 Katarina

Traveling to Paris, with granntanter.se

Have to tell you about something very exiting! Yes, hold on.. I am traveling to Paris in October! I bought the trip for me and my mother this autumn due to our 30 and 60th birthday this year. Paris have always been a dream travel destination of mine and I picture Paris, a little like Grythyttan but in bigger format with vintage editing in natural sense. Like a brown/grayish romantic filter with roses and nostalgia all over. Even if I know that I am going to find something else, this is how I picture it. Im so exited. First Way out West (A Swedish music festival), then Finland with #travelhouseporvoo and then Paris with mum! What a travel-year to come. And like this isn´t enough. We are traveling with granntanter.se, two Swedish authors that run a blog and travel with their readers. Camilla Thulin and Karina Ericsson-Wärn. Check in their blog and tag along if their is any available spots for you. Katarina Canon 5D Mark iii, 50 mm Canon lens f1,8. Photos is of …
